Meet Fairfax, one of the horses of Greater Manchester Police’s Tactical Mounted Unit. Regarded as one of our best horses at the time, Fairfax became well known when he was chosen to feature in a Force poster campaign in 2009. Fairfax has since retired but his image is still in use. Our Tactical Mounted Unit plays a major part in the policing of matches. Being on horseback gives offices a great advantage in crowd situation.
