During the night of  January 9-10, 2013, vigorous Strombolian activity started within the Bocca Nuova, Etna’s largest summit crater. Indonesian stratovolcano Tangkubanparahu erupted and spewed ash some 500 m into the sky on Monday, March 4, 2013. The tourist site was closed for public on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at around 5 PM local time and authorities have declared danger zone of 1.5 kilometers from crater. According to head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency of West Bandung, Maman Sulaiman, tourists are being instructed not to enter the site by the means of informative banners. Tungurahua volcano showed a decrease in explosive activity, seismic activity and rate of SO2 emissions since September. Elevated volcanic activity continues at Mt. Stromboli, Italy. During early hours of January 10, 2013 new lava overflows occurred on the northern and eastern side of the SE crater. Strong detonations from large exploding magma bubbles can be felt and heard in the village nearby. Activity has been at exceptionally high levels recently.

The new, 11th paroxysm from the Etna’s New SE crater occurred on April 18, 2013 with lava fountains, a lava flow directed into the Valle del Bove, and a column of ash and lapilli that expanded south-southwestward. The phase of lava fountaining was followed by a long series of powerful explosions, with detonations audible as far as Catania.
