This is what I do on a regular basis. While I can read people normally (somewhat anyways, I'm still working on that skill), I learn far more about a person by listening and watching what their body language, hearing both what they say and what they leave unsaid in a conversation or about a specific topic or person, how they view them, and what kind of language and emotion they use when they talk.

My people reading skills flat out stink, but tend to be observant enough this still applies. Especially when I have deemed the person interesting enough to be worth keeping track of.
