This might be the last day for the experimenting process, if not there would be one more, or 2 at most. Not much was completed today because we started working with less than 10 mins in class, and I didn't want to rush anything because you have to take your time, especially in art. What I did hear was not much, this is not what the project will end up looking like. This is just to show that I made a pole out of paper for support. I have an idea of what I want to do with this, and I'm…

Ignore the big sculpture in the back, focus on mine in the front. Not much was added to this sculpture, I was experimenting a little, and messing with the squares because if you look at the design of the shape, you can tell that it won't be a perfect square, but i have a way to fix that no problem. Really what I was doing this art period was searching Pinterest for similar pins to see how other people went about their sculptures, and that's where I got this idea of how to improve this

I've headed back to the original idea of squares. But this isn't exactly what I was originally going for. I'm settled on this idea because I can keep adding onto it and it'll only get better. I'm not going to go for some crazy design because I want to maintain the motif of a square, which shouldn't be that hard because that shape repeats throughout the entire sculpture. Also a square is a very easy motif to have, and again, it's maintainable.

I took a complete turn with where I was going with this project. Originally you saw my brainstorming in the sketch, but when it came down to actually doing it, it would've taken way too long, and it would be been way to complicated etc. So I ditched the idea, and am now leaning more toward abstraction, much like our first project. I want to maintain a balance for this project, and here's no better way of doing that than putting the artwork on a fulcrum.

My sculpture is complete. What I have finished it a lot of the holes in this project. Such as when looking at my most recent I tire aside from this you can see a lot of emptiness, now I have filled them in. And oddly enough I had the exact amount of squares needed. It was really satisfying. I will say it was tedious to get the squares in those tight spots that already were already made. The motif is clear now, it is a 3 dimensional square made out of 2 dimensional squares.

Although it looks 2-dimensional, this sculpture is 3-dimensional, made in a video game that is 2-dimensional. This is the game of Minecraft, where you build the world around you with materials provided throughout the world. After killing lots of sheep, and making dyes, my brother created this penguin in he game, the motif is a cube, repeated throughout the sculpture.

It seems again I have ditched the idea of a scale, and am starting from scratch again. The reason is because A) there was no the motif, and B), no tape is allowed on the final project. So I want to do something simple with simple shapes, but I don't think this is it (cubes) so I looked on Pinterest to find inspiration, and I have an idea. We will have to see how it turns out tomorrow. If I stick with his I'll build something natural. Otherwise I'll make a sculpture solely out of 2-D squares.

After day 1 of experimenting, we started the second phase of experimenting, and this is what I have so far. I might just leave it like this, or add more, or start another project. But I'm not too excited about starting over, because this is just experimenting. What i did was I cut out the frame for the cube, and while it was later out I cut out the number shapes and made it look like a die. I don't know what more could be added because again, I don't want to entirely mess this up.

Insects made from old watches…Really cool, but I'm curious as to where the bulbs & transistor/fuse type thingies come from. Seriously ... would appreciate being enlightened. Doesn't really matter whether they do or don't come in watches. These are still works of genius & art ... in my not always so humble openguin. :)

Day 3 I think? Lost track of the days. Anyway, this is still the experimenting process, I decided to stick with what I was doing and just work with this, after all, we are only trying out new things. What I did was I used the parts of the cube I cut out for the numbers, and recycled then to add more pizzazz to the picture. Also I used hot glue to seal the pieces of paper to get her so they don't slip away, kinda like a blacksmith at his forge.
