ALPINE FORGET-ME-NOT Family: Boraginaceae. Genus: Myosotis. Species: M. alpestris. This adorable bluish-pink flower blooms in mid-summer. As the Alaskan state flower, you would expect that it would be very hardy. Don't be fooled! There are many species that are not near as hardy. I love to use these in borders. Weigelas are valuable garden shrubs that grow freely in almost any soil and require little maintenance. They are deciduous shrubs growing 1.5 – 2.0 tall and just a bit less wide. Leaves are ovate to oval. Bell or funnel shaped flowers come in many colours and appear at the end of spring / beginning of summer and sporadically towards the end of summer.
