Whenever characters in comedic movies or TV shows end up looking at porn they always do that “head-tilt” trope, which suggests whatever they’re seeing (and the audience isn’t) is so twisted they’re having a hard time telling up from down.
"The Ghost Writer" (dir. Roman Polanski, 2010) --- A ghostwriter (Ewan McGregor) hired to complete the memoirs of wildly popular former British prime minister Adam Lang (Pierce Brosnan) uncovers secrets that put his own life in jeopardy.Co-starring Olivia Williams, Kim Cattrall, Timothy Hutton, and Jon Bernthal. Based on the novel "The Ghost" by Robert Harris. MY RATING: 3/5 Stars
"I used to think two was not enough. But now things are great; there are loads of people... I don't know what Will was so pissed about. I don't think couples are the future. The way I see it now, we both got back-up now. It's like that thing Jon Bon Jovi said: 'No man is an island.'"
Jon Kasdan offers up what seems to be an idealized look at two young people who are considering losing their virginity. The leads are cute and already teen-approved so I imagine plenty of people will see this in time, but there's a whisper buried within this lite-indie soundtrack that reminds me that John Hughes is no longer with us, and few writer/directors have come close to matching his enduring themes and tones.
