"Progressivism" has a long and shameful history of OPPOSING progress in the United States. Woodrow Wilson, the 1st progressive, opposed women's rights, segregated the federal govt screened KKK recruitment film "Birth of a Nation" in the White House. FDR rounded up Asian Americans put them in concentration camps. The only progress "progressives" have ever stood for is progressively more powerful government.

This picture was taken in 1942 after Japanese Americans were taken to internment camps, as ordered in February of that year by President Franklin Roosevelt. The following month a P-I photographer followed 225 people were left Bainbridge Island for internment camps. A few of these images have never been published, and since 1976 the P-I negatives have been carefully preserved at the Museum of History and Industry.
Female skull from 300BC, found in a megalithic chamber tomb in Roque d'Aille in the Var. Exposed to a pyre. The skull had been trepanned -- carved open with flint and operated on for 3 hours. The artificial ear is made of seashell (spondylus Graederopus). Signs of wear (likely from the woman playing with her ear) show that the woman lived for many years after the open brain operation.
The four Martin Brothers, W.S., J.B., A.T., and B.B., were remarkable men. They became important figures in medicine, politics, and sports. Two were doctors; two were pharmacists. One, Dr. J.B. Martin, opened his own drug store in 1920. All were active in Republican politics. The Martins owned the Memphis Red Sox, as well as the stadium in which the team played. They were the only blacks in baseball to own both. J.B. later served as president of the Negro American League.
