HMS Durham Castle (British Accommodation ship) - On 26 January 1940 HMS Durham Castle struck a mine laid on 21 January by U-57 and sank 3 miles east of Cromarty Firth, during a gale and in severe icy conditions. The ship was in tow by the tug HMS Watermeyer for use as a blockship at Scapa Flow.

Sister of the Tantallon Castle she was the last ship built for Union-Castle before the company was merged with Clan Line within the British & Commonwealth Group in January 1956. Sold to Armar Shipping Co. of Cyprus in 1971, renamed Armar, 27/06/78 when she arrived at Kaohsiung for breaking up.
