These bags are so beautiful. One of my dear Vanuatu friends gave me one as a parting gift. To get it through customs, I put it in a big garbage bag and filled it with Mortein bug spray to kill any potential bugs. I then shook it out, packed it in my suitcase. Declared it at customs, and they had no problem with it! (Phew!)
The markets in Vanuatu are quite spectacular. So many people, fresh produce, and colour! A lot of the locals travel looong distances to sell their produce at the markets, and it's quite normal to see them sleeping under their tables, until their produce is all sold!

Learn basic Bislama before you go! & continue to learn with locals when you get there. It's good fun, and super practical to understand the local language. It's a pidgin English, and you can pick it up in about a month.
