Britain: Researchers say they have made one of the most significant archeological findings in British history: a vast stone monument underground, dating back years, which is part of a “super-henge” that dwarfs Stonehenge by a factor of

4,500-year-old megalithic super-henge found buried one mile from Stonehenge.  A reconstruction depicting how the row of megalithic stones would have looked. The giant monoliths are up to 15 feet tall, and are believed to be sarsen stones – sandstone blocks which were also used for the heelstone and circle uprights at Stonehenge. We don’t think there’s anything quite like this anywhere else in the world. This is completely new and the scale is extraordinary.

A groundbreaking new survey of STONEHENGE and its surroundings has revealed 15 previously unknown Neolithic monuments underground, according the Smithsonian Institute. The results show that there is a lot more to Stonehenge than meets the eye. It has long been known that Stonehenge was not just an isolated monument in an unspoiled landscape, but was part of a much bigger complex. This is evidenced by the scattering of mounds, ditches, burials, and other significant monuments.
