Goblin sharks (Mitsukurina owstoni) live at depths of about 100 m (330 ft) in the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. They can be found much deeper, as far as 200m below the surface. They're the sole surviving species of the family Mitsukurina, a lineage that has existed for more than 125 million years.  They can grow up to 3.30 metres long and weigh up to 195 kg.
