CASTLE COVE Glenaire, Victoria, Australia. On my way back along the winding Great Ocean Road, I stopped at a look out overlooking this beautiful little bay called Castle Cove. The wind was 'blowing a gale', as it often does along this part of the coast, but it was sunny and the water was a lovely shade of green. There weren't many trees to be found, I presume because of the harsh conditions, but the low lying bushes were lush and covered most of the cliffs.

RUGGED Eden, New South Wales, Australia. Rugged is the best way I could describe this piece of coastline on the southern section of New South Wales' shores, and red is another word that could be used! The lush growth along the cliff top makes way for a very dangerous rocky face against an equally threatening sea. The red colour of the cliffs is amazing and in stark contrast to the other rocks in the water.

POOLED REFLECTIONS Grass Creek, Australia. The wonderful lava flows along the Great Ocean Road are very evident at Grass Creek. The unusual rock formations pool water and provide great reflections of the morning sky.

TREE ON FIRE Point Addis, Australia. Point Addis is on the Great Ocean Road and is within a Marine National Park. The views from the lookout are stunning although the wind from the Southern Ocean can be a bit cool! I took the short walk from the car park to the beach on the Anglesea side of the Point just as the sunset started and was lucky enough to pass this tree being backlit by the golden sun. When I processed the shot back in my office, it almost appeared like the tree was on…

Photo: STIPPLED LIGHT Cape Otway, Victoria, Australia The short walk from Cape Otway's carpark to the historic lighthouse takes you through a small stand of trees and scrubby bushland.  This lovely little path with stippled light filtering through the overgrowing trees seems oddly out of place with the rest of the windswept landscape of the shipwreck coast.  The walk is well worth taking and the climb to the top of the lighthouse is rewarded with fantastic views of this remote part of the…

DEATH DEFYING Shoal Bay, Australia. I bet you think I was standing in the water to take this one! No … I actually crawled out on a large pipe under a derelict pier so that I could get a shot of the last few minutes of a lovely sunset. The whole time I was taking this shot I was worried about losing my camera and tripod, not to mention myself off the slippery & slimy pipe. Hope you think it was worth the death defying stunt!

LIFT ONE'S SPIRITS Bright, Victoria, Australia. A quiet bend in a small river near Bright brings my week to an end. It is nice to sit here on Sunday afternoon and look at a tranquil photo and enjoy a quiet moment before the hustle and bustle of a new week begins. There wasn't much water in the river, but the trees and bushes on each bank looked to be thriving. It was way too sunny when I took the photo, but sometimes these bright photos can lift one's spirits in readiness for the big…

LUSH TREE LINED RIVERS Werribee, Victoria, Australia. This little river runs right though the middle of Werribee, a large city on the outskirts of Melbourne. You could be forgiven for thinking that this is a rural scene, & that there isn't a single living soul within miles. This scene is what I think of when rural Australia is mentioned. Even though dusty outback countryside is a normal picture in peoples minds, there are many lush tree lined rivers and forests that make up our landscape.

OOPS! Mornington, Australia. On Friday night Port Phillip was hit by a storm that brought down trees across roads, and helped this yacht slip it's moorings and come to rest on the Mornington Beach. Hopefully for the owner, there isn't too much damage. I loved the way the yacht's mast creates a diagonal line across the image and the beautiful beach sheds that are an iconic part of this side of the bay provide wonderful colour.
