The Cooleemee Plantation House, is a house located near Mocksville, on the Yadkin River in Davie Co., North Carolina. The house is an "Anglo-Grecian Villa", built in the shape of a Greek cross between 1853-1855 by Peter & Columbia Stuart Hairston. The house is built from approximately 300,000 bricks made on site. Cooleemee Plantation was founded by Col. Jesse A. Pearson who took part in the capture of approximately 600 tribal Creek Indians during the War of 1812.

North Island Lighthouse - Winyah Bay  The first house, as early as 1795, burned whale oil in a six foot wide lantern. The second light was destroyed during the Civil War. Our current light is 85 ft tall and was one of the last manual lighthouses.  Accessible by boat only.
