The Official Woolton Pie Recipe (The Times 26.4.1941) 1 lb each of diced potatoes, cauliflower, swedes (rutabaga) + carrots; 3-4 spring onions; 1 tsp vegetable extract + 1 tsp oatmeal. METHOD: Cook together for 10 minutes with just enough water to cover. Stir occasionally to prevent mixture from sticking. Allow to cool; put into pie dish, sprinkle with chopped parsley, cover with crust of potatoes or wholemeal pastry. Bake in moderate oven until pastry is nicely brown, serve hot with gravy.
