SASEBO, Japan (Jan. 15, 2013) The Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42) departs Sasebo, Japan for a deployment. Germantown will take part in an amphibious integration training (AIT) and certification exercise (CERTEX) and will also participate in the annual multinational combined joint training exercise Cobra Gold. Germantown is part of the forward-deployed Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group and is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
