Mitchell became a celebrity with with the publication of her only novel, Gone With the Wind, in 1936 and the subsequent film adaptation in 1939 || Mitchell was a woman of her time, but her ability to grow is what I find inspiring. This was a woman who helped finance the medical education of many African-Americans.
