The Monkees NBC 09/66 - 03/68 Inspired by the Beatles' Hard Day's Night, producers attempted to create a show about a fictional rock bad. Mickey Dolenz, Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith,and Peter Tork formed the Monkees.  Only Nesmith and Tork were actually musicians. Dolenz and Jones were actors with decent voices. The show was a hit and spawned several Top 40 hits including Daydream Believers and Last Train to Clarksville.
