Speaks the Nightbird: Robert McCammon,  4 stars 816 pages, 33 hrs. The thoughtful progress of this novel might seem slow to some but there seemed to be no wasted words - each one created atmosphere and depth.  As much as I wanted to know what would happen, I was pleased by the young protagonist deliberation as he investigated for a witch trial. 34 hrs, 816 pages, 4 stars. Recommended.
