The Functional Assessment of Communication Skills in Adults. Available from ASHA. $165 for nonmembers. (ASHA FACS) is a measure of functional communication for those with left hemisphere stroke and TBI. It does not measure impairment; it measures how specific speech, language, hearing and/or cognitive deficits affect the performance of daily life activities. I find the functional approach of this exam very practical and appealing. I have not had cause to use this assessment.
