Roy Bennett is one of Zimbabwe’s most divisive politicians. After the farmer joined Morgan Tsvangirai’s Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) and was elected to parliament, he is famous for physically confronting a Zanu-PF minister who insulted him. It earned him eight months in a flea-infested prison, sleeping on concrete floors with one blanket and no working toilet. It wasn’t the last time he was arrested. As treasurer of the MDC-T, he has spent years in exile.
