JOHN HOPE (first black president of Morehouse College in Atlanta, was affiliated with Spelman and Atlanta University under his leadership, was a founder of the Niagara Movement, served as YMCA secretary working with black solders in France during and after World War I, member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, his wife founded the Neighborhood Union outreach program in Atlanta)

1906 - John Hope elected president of Atlanta Baptist College, the first black president of the institution.

Wilma Mankiller, 1945-2010. She was the first female chief of the Cherokee Nation and served for ten years. She led the tribe to succesful business opportunities and secured legal framework for future success.  She served as example to all of us as a proud American Indian woman working for her people.
