Dr. Brian Woodall recently accompanied a group of Georgia-based academics on a ten-day study tour to Turkey. The group visited Istanbul, Izmir, Gaziantep, Sanilurfa, Mardin, and Ankara. This photo was taken following a meeting with Februniye Akyol and Ahmet Turk, Mardin’s co-mayors. Akyol is a member of the city’s Syriac Christian community, while Turk is a well-known Kurdish leader. Mardin is a historic city in southeastern Turkey near the border with Syria.
Congratulations to Dr. Brian Woodall for being awarded a Fulbright to research in Japan for the academic year! This prestigious award will enable him to spend the upcoming academic year in Japan as a Visiting Scholar at the Tokyo Institute of Technology.
