Jamaican hummingbird also known as the "Doctor Bird." The male of the species has two long dark steamer like tail feathers, and is the national bird of Jamaica. The "Doctor Bird" can only be found on the island of Jamaica.

The Southern carmine bee-eaters (Merops nubicoides) (formerly carmine bee-eaters) are social birds breeding in colonies.

The violetears are hummingbirds of the genus Colibri. They are medium to large species found in Mexico, and Central and northern South America. The Mexican violetear occasionally wanders as far north as the United States and even Canada.
