He Hunts Ghosts - One of every 14 Britons claims to have seen or heard a ghost, according to Philip Paul, vice-chairman of the Ghost Club of London. Investigating spectres, sleeping in haunted houses and reporting to the 150 members of the century-old Ghost Club are Paul’s hobbies. (Ghost Club members also dabble in hypnotism and fire walking.) Pictures show Paul checking up on a haunted dwelling and dressmaker’s shop in London where a poltergeist (noisy ghost) had been rumpling beds…

In the 1930′s there were still sections of the American Southwest largely unexplored. Everett Ruess became one of the first non-Native Americans to see these places and document them, as an artist and a writer. He was a contemporary of Dorothea Lange and Ansel Adams, and was well-known for his love of nature and solitude. One day, he ventured out into the Utah desert with two burros and never returned, leaving behind only the corral he built. He was only 20 years old.

"I have not tired of the wilderness; rather I enjoy its beauty and the vagrant life I lead, more keenly all the time. I prefer the saddle to the streetcar and star-sprinkled sky to a roof, the obscure and difficult trail, leading into the unknown to any paved highway, and the deep peace of the wild to the discontent bred by cities." - Everett Ruess

BARNEY RIGGS ... west Texas outlaw, man killer, and sometimes lawman; Riggs was known for his hot temper and being quick to pull his gun. He was especially to be feared when liquored up. Moving to Arizona to stay ahead of the law, he once joined a posse formed by Cochise County Sheriff Johnny Behan to track down the Earp’s. Riggs was shot and killed in Fort Stockton by a young 21 yr old whom he had been bullying.
