A helicopter hovers over the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1977 after about two Dozen Demonstrators occupied the Statue and draped its forehead with a Puerto Rican flag. The group, who were calling for Puerto Rican independence and for release of four Puerto Rican nationalists serving terms for the 1954 shooting of five congressmen, held the Statue for nine hours before being rounded up.
