Hattie Carnegie is one of the most important women in American Fashion history. Carnegie was an immigrant from Austria, who basically learned the power of imitation in the fashion industry. Carnegie studied the fashions from Paris and recreated the designs for the American market. Carnegie's American business was so popular that it employed more than 1000 people by the 1940's.
