Dali Theatre-Museum. In 1960, the artist bought the Municipal Theatre, a building that had been destroyed by fire at the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1939, turning it into the largest surrealist object in the world. First he painted the building maroon and stuck loaves of bread to the walls (they are made from plaster). He positioned giant eggs along the rampart and planted cypress trees out front.
