Explore Basin, Note, and more!

A remarkable sand crab shaped mesa system in the Nilosyrtis region. I assume it was created from heavily dessicated crater basin (the mesa tops were once the bottom). Note the two great outflow channels in the upper left.

'Fountain' | Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) | Originally released May 30, 2007, this image is centered on a small cone on the side of one of Mars' giant shield volcanoes. The cone shows some layers of hard rock but most of it is made of relatively soft material. This appears to be an example of a "cinder" cone composed of pieces of lava thrown into the air during a small volcanic eruption.

Layered rocks northeast of Hellas basin

Northeast of Hellas basin (in Mars southern hemisphere) are ancient sequences of clay-bearing layered rocks. Cropped from The image covers an area about 750 meters wide by kilometers tall.

Mark Watney is part of a six-member team that lands in a large northern basin on Mars, called Acidalia Planitia. This is where the crew establishes their home base, called "the Hab." Here's the real life Acidalia Planitia, where shallow pits may have formed from ancient floods or glaciers.

All of the beautiful locations in Matt Damon's new thriller about Mars are real — here are the epic photos that prove it

Morphological Mars Mystery This image covers many shallow irregular pits with raised rims, concentrated along ridges and other topographic features. How did these odd features form? Image: NASA/JPL/University of Arizona

Ancient exposed bedrock on Mars!

Three possible landing sites are now in the running for the U. space agency's next Mars rover. The post NASA Narrows Down Mars 2020 Rover Landing Sites appeared first on Sky & Telescope.

this is the ikea farm sink (double basin and yours would be single), so looks like you can get the less expensive sink form ikea and they make a sink base to fit. One thing to note--it sits on top of the counter instead of under, what do you think of that? Also, these are ikea cabinets, what do you think of this style?

Rustik elegans

a fireclay apron sink, open shelves and a v-groove ceiling give a kitchen a more farmhouse/country feel. ~~~~The shelves of white dishes are just gorgeous.

Gorgeous Images: Ancient River on Mars?

Reull Vallis, the river-like structure, is believed to have formed when running water flowed in the distant martian past, cutting a steep-sided channel through the Promethei Terra Highlands before running on towards the floor of the vast Hellas basin.

Looking like a serpent swimming across Mars' Hellas impact basin is this sand dune

Epically awesome photos of Mars

A giant snake-like dune, or barchan, in the Hellas impact basin of Mars was formed due to winds blowing in the same direction for a long period of time.

Charitum Montes: a cratered winter wonderland The high-resolution stereo camera on ESA's Mars Express imaged the Charitum Montes region of the Red Planet on 18 June, near to Gale crater and the Argyre basin featured in our October and November image releases. The brighter features, giving the image an ethereal winter-like feel in the colour images, are surfaces covered with seasonal carbon dioxide frost.

Craters Upon Craters: The European Space Agency's Mars Express satellite snapped this heavily cratered landscape in the Charitum Montes region of the Red Planet.

Hellas Basin formations

Contortions on the Floor of Hellas Basin The floor of Hellas Basin is often obscured by atmospheric haze and dust, but it tends to be quite clear this time of year (northern spring and southern fall).
