Convoys allowed the Royal Navy to concentrate its escorts near the one place the U-boats were guaranteed to be found, the convoys. Each convoy consisted of between 30 and 70 mostly unarmed merchant ships.
The evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940 was when the British and French left Dunkirk, France after battling with Germany. This was one of the battles of the Battle of France. Germany won the battle as a whole and ended up having power in France until the Allies came to rescue and some help from the French Resistance. While in France the Germans took Jews and had them shipped off to concentration camps and treated the French people with no respect.
