BLUEBONNET PARADISE: Just south of Dallas on Interstate 45 is the town of Ennis, Texas. Ennis boasts over 40 miles of mapped Bluebonnet Trails for auto touring, sponsored by the Ennis Garden Club. These are said to be the oldest such trails in the state, and tens of thousands of visitors make the trek each year. The Ennis Bluebonnet festival is April 15-17th, and the Ennis Garden club does the work of locating the most impressive blooms for visitors on a weekly basis.
