A Triad is a combination of 3 colors that are equidistant from each other on the color circle. It produces a high contrast effect while preserving ’harmony.’ Such a composition looks vibrant even when you use pale and unsaturated colours.
I design a lot of coastal color palettes for my clients and every now and then there’s one that even I say “wow that turned out beautiful!”. I recently designed this color palette for a small home that had some light issues and a very dark wood floor. This color palette was perfect!
Sunny room? Use a cooler gray like SMOKE EMBERS Dark room? Use a lighter tint of gray perhaps like HORIZON Have a lot of orange in the room? Use a bluer gray like SLEIGH BELLS Northern Exposure? Try a warm, light gray like LIGHT PEWTER.
