A great film noir, Detective Story is a 1951 film, which tells the story of one day in the lives of the various people who populate a police detective squad. I think it's one of Kirk Douglas best films. It also features George Macready, Eleanor Parker, William Bendix, and Cathy O'Donnell. Both Lee Grant and Joseph Wiseman perform in their film debuts.

leanor Parker was nominated three times as Best Actress for the Academy Award but never won. In 1950, she received the first of three nominations: for "Caged", in which she played a prison inmate. For this role, she won the 1950 Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival.
