“Champions aren’t made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them—a desire, a dream, a vision.”–Muhammad Ali (Health and fitness quotes)

One of my favorite running quotes.

This is so true. I think its part of what's great about being a 'runner.' It's not like being a trobone player, where you have to be pretty good to tell people you are one. If you go running today, you are a runner.

It's very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside your head that wants you to quit. - George Sheehan

Never forget that! For me, a 12 minute mile is fast, miles are miles!

Except for the fact that how fast you run totally matters...

Being a runner is what matters, not how fast or far you can run. The joy in the act of running and in the journey, not the destination.

Race week is here and I have not trained nearly enough as I had hoped to. Too tired. the flu. hurt my neck.

Especially this weekend...in 5-8 inches of fresh snow... LOL! At least I'll be in good company!

Running Matters The marathon is going to hurt. End of story. There isn't some magic pace you get to that makes the marathon easy.
