Goldfish Race Fundraiser. A fun fundraising activity is a goldfish race. Two 10-foot long rain gutters are placed side by side. Caps are glued to each end so that they will hold water. A goldfish is placed in each gutter and is held at the end by a removable gutter-shaped gate. Employees pay an entrance fee to buy a fish and participate.

Goating Fundraiser. The Hormel Historic Home fundraiser in Austin, Texas, netted more than $10,000 for their building expansion project with their "goating" fundraiser. At least 150 people were “goated” — a pair of 3-year-old pygmy goats was placed on their lawn, and they had to pay $50 to have the animals removed. For a $40 donation residents could request a “goating.”
As LACBC's biggest event and fundraiser, the Los Angeles River Ride is vital to introducing folks to our work and raising the necessary funds to make LA County a better place to ride. In addition to supporting LACBC through your River Ride registration fees, you can encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to donate to your ride and support LACBC's collaborative campaign to complete all 51 miles of LA River Bikeway by the year 2020.
Toy Auction Fundraiser. Ask people to donate toys in good condition that their kids no longer use. Parents and kids alike are always looking for good deals. Depending on your group, you could do this as a live auction, silent or online. Toys not auctioned off could be donated to a homeless shelter or other appropriate charity.
I Dare You Fundraiser. Would you take a shower in a public fountain? What if your friends would donate $50 each if you did it? And then you agreed to post a video of the whole thing online? Challenge your friends to do wildly crazy things, record their antics and post them online. What’s in it for the dare accepters? The dare is a fundraiser for charity.
Job Cards Fundraiser. Each volunteer writes on a 3"x5" card what they would be willing to do for fundraising for pay (i.e. painting, car washing, cleaning, yard work, babysitting). These cards were placed on a table during our spaghetti fundraising supper so adults could take note of the youths' abilities and areas of interest. The kids got paid better by not setting a fee and letting the "purchaser" make a freewill donation.
Thon Fundraiser. There is an appropriate fundraising thon event for every organization. While events vary widely, the basic means of raising funds is pretty much the same. Participants collect pledges from family and friends - either a flat fee or so much per "x" that they complete during the event. Companies may also sponsor the event - especially if it relates to their business. Organizations often make additional funds selling refreshments, advertising and souvenirs.
