Along with mission Commander Gene Cernan, Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt guided the Lunar Module Challenger towards the Taurus-Littrow Valley. Schmitt, the only geologist to land on the Moon, and Cernan spent three days on the lunar surface.
