violence peacefully. Why on earth would anyone shower praise on a country that commits multiple human rights violations every day? Israel’s “democracy” and “freedom” are highly flawed and restrictive. Its treatment of Palestinians is deplorable and disgusting. Palestinians are unjustly jailed and tortured all the time. One Palestinian child is killed every three days. Thousands and thousands of Palestinian homes have been destroyed.
This is a quote from an activist named Nelson Mandala. He was someone during this time period who really impacted the Civil Rights era. He changed peoples lives in Little Rock Arkansas for the better. For example, African Americans lives like Liz were improved because earlier in time it was difficult for her and her family members to deal with society but now African Americans are treated more equally.
Nelson Mandela was a huge historical and influential figure in Africa. He was a major figure in the ending of Apartheid. He started out with violent protest. This landed him in jail. After he spent 27 years in false imprisonment, he helped the last white South African president abolish Apartheid laws and create a new and equal constitution. He then went on the be the first black president of South Africa.

Gordon Parks - 1956. I chose this photo because I feel it may have been an important piece of history and culture during the Civil Rights era. This photograph tells us how things were for blacks in history and shows great composition in terms of the history of photography.
