USS Haggard (DD-555) My Grandfather served on this ship during World War II. He was decorated for his actions during the Kamikaze Attack that nearly destroyed the ship. It was an event that stayed with him forever and something that he never talked about. It wasn't until after my own military service, that I was allowed to read the diary he kept for the duration of his wartime service.
