MELAMPUS (2) built in 1960. After being trapped in the Suez Canal 1967-1974 she was abandoned to the underwriters. After her release she was purchased by Grecomar and renamed ANNOULA II. Arrived Gadani Beach, Pakistan, 7.11.1982 to be broken up. Acknowledgment R.M.Parsons.

AGAPENOR built in 1947 is shown here in Avonmouth docks photographed by the late R.M.Parsons. She and the Melampus were trapped in the Suez Canal 1967-1974. She was abandoned to the underwriters. Upon her release in 1975 she was purchased by Grecomar and renamed NIKOS. She arrived in Gadani Beach, Pakistan, on 27.12.81 to be broken up. Age 34.

ASPHALION 1948-1979. Blue Funnel were fond of changing their ships names. There are stories, no doubt exaggerated, of crew going ashore and returning and being unable to find their ship - now renamed. Of course there could be other explanations as to why they could not locate their ship! Anyway this fine vessel had a few names. Built in 1948 as Achilles, 1949 Radnorshire, 1963 Asphalion, 1966 Polyphemus (NSMO), 1972 Asphalion, 1975 sold and renamed Gulf Anchor. She was broken up in…
