Jasna Góra Monastery in Częstochowa, Poland is the home of the Black Madonna. Millions from all over the world come to see it every year. The icon depicting the Mother of God with the Christ Child is widely venerated and credited with many miracles. The two scars on the Black Madonna's right cheek were allegedly made by a robber, who drew his sword upon the image when his horse refused to move. He tried to inflict a third strike, but fell to the ground and squirmed in agony until his death.
