The tar is a traditional Persian instrument that uses mulberry wood and stretch lambskin and camel leg bone. It has a range to of 2 to 1 1/2 octaves and has 25 to 28 adjustable gut frets. The pairs singing strings are tuned in fourths of C G C and then the one flying bass string which is tuned in G, an octave lower than the singing middle string.
Yet another fantastic Persian dessert/sweet: Zoolbia and Bamieh (baamieh) are ALWAYS paired together!! They're both delicious, but expensive to buy at the Persian store, so have fun making them cheaply at home!!
