On a drive down Nichols Canyon Road the other day, all I could think about were 1) how beautiful and cool it was and 2) this painting by David Hockney (Nichols Canyon, 1980)

lynn pollard This piece is made with a special technique I developed. I dip paper into a vat of natural indigo dye and move it in ways to create the image–no paintbrush is used. The paper is dipped multiple times over a number of days to add complexity and to take advantage of the fact that the indigo vat is constantly changing. Thrill Your Kids with Squirt Gun Painting

This is a great activity that should be monitored but it engages the child's creative mind (cognitive) and physical ability to use the gun correctly which also takes thinking (cognitive)

Mirror Tapestry...or just a log tapestry if you leave the little mirrors off. Cool piece of art.
