Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966) one of the outstanding artists of the 20th Century. He came from a family of artists and produced the majority of his paintings and sculpture in Paris. He was influenced by cubism, surrealism, existentialism and phenomenology, and was dominated by his unceasing search for the essence of existence. He found fame with his sculptures featuring excessively long figures which were very thin and often very tall.
