In astronomers discovered a star composed entirely of diamond, measuring km across and 10 billion trillion trillion carats. 50 light years from Earth, the diamond star is classified as a crystallized white dwarf, the hot core that remains after

Jupiter.

Mass one-thousandth that of the Sun but is two and a half times the mass of all the other planets in our Solar System combined. Jupiter is classified as a gas giant along with Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

Jupiter

Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. It has 67 moons which orbit around it. The spot in the lower left is the Great Red Spot, a giant high-pressure storm that has existed since at least the century.

Mercury is the closest planet to our Sun, but oddly enough, not the hottest. Since Mercury has no atmosphere, more of the Sun's heat radiates away from it whereas Venus, even though it's further away from the sun, has a thick greenhouse atmosphere trapping and retaining the Sun's heat and making it hotter.

A giant of a moon appears before a giant of a planet undergoing seasonal changes in this natural color view of Titan and Saturn from NASA's Cassini spacecraft. Titan, Saturn's largest moon, measures 3,200 miles, or 5,150 kilometers, across and is larger than the planet Mercury. Cassini scientists have been watching the moon's south pole since a vortex appeared in its atmosphere in 2012.

Spiograph nebula

The Spirograph Nebula - Glowing like a multi-faceted jewel, the planetary nebula IC 418 lies about light-years from Earth in the constellation Lepus. In this picture, the Hubble telescope reveals some remarkable textures weaving through the nebula.

Poor Uranus. In 1986, when Voyager 2 passed by on its way out to the unknown, it looked like nothing more than a featureless blue-green sphere. That's due to a haze of methane clouds, which are the final layer of frozen gases in this little-known planet. It's believed there are clouds of water somewhere underneath, but, well, we're not really sure. See the best pictures of every planet: http://pops.ci/10klLdP

Only 15 minutes after its closest approach to Pluto on July 14, 2015, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft looked back toward the sun and captured this near-sunset view of the rugged, icy mountains and flat ice plains extending to Pluto’s horizon. The smooth expanse of the informally named icy plain Sputnik Planum (right) is flanked on the left by rugged mountains up to 11,000 feet (3,500 meters) high, including the informally named Norgay Montes in the foreground and Hillary Montes on the…
