This is "Comanche". It is reported that he was the only survivor of the Custer Massacre, Little Big Horn Battle. Orders of the Cavalry was to the care of "Comanche" as long as he shall live.

"Black Jack" was a Riderless Horse who walked in over a thousand military funeral processions between 1952 and 1976, including those of Presidents John F. Kennedy, Herbert Hoover, Lyndon B. Johnson, and General Douglas MacArthur. Black Jack died after 24 years of service at age 29, and is one of two horses in United States history to be buried with Full Military Honors.
