Judaism - Cheshvan (October/November) is the 8th month in the Hebrew calendar. The root of the word Cheshvan is “chash”, which in Hebrew means “quiet”. The very name commands us to be still, to be quiet. After the building up of the drama of the past two months, Elul and Tishrei, when the entire  world stands at attention in front of God, the month of Cheshvan is a period of quiet from all the tumult.
