HOPI KOKOPELLA MASK
Très beau et ancien Masque de danse - Guéré - Côte d'Ivoire - Bois polychrome, clous de tapissier, ficelle, étoffes, fibres végétales, dents
Masks of my Ancestors: The Château-Musée de Boulogne-sur-Mer has an exceptional collection of Alutiiq Sugpiaq ceremonial masks and objects acquired by Alphonse Pinart (French Explorer), in 1875 in the Kodiak Archipelago, Alaska. Normally, the Natives would burn the masks upon completion of the ceremony. That any survived is quite remarkable.
