Just finished reading this, it isn't "Fried Green Tomatoes" but it was a very enjoyable read. It is real Americana. Great background read on the women who stepped up during WW2 to be "volunteer" pilots (WASPs) for the military. Until forced to, their service was never acknowledged by the military.
