The AS-90 Braveheart is a lightly armoured self-propelled artillery piece used by the British Army. The AS-90 was first deployed by the British Army in 1993. 179 AS-90s were acquired to re-equip six of the eight self-propelled field artillery regiments (each 24 guns) in the 1 (BR) Corps, replacing the 105 mm FV433 Abbot SPG and older M109 155 mm Self Propelled Gun. Troops from B Company 5 Battalion The Rifles (5 RIFLES) have taken part in Ex KAPYONG BUGLE, a company-plus level exercise held on the Sennelager Training Area in Germany. As well as 50 Riflemen from 5 RIFLES, the exercise involved 122 soldiers from the Canadian Army’s C Company 2nd Battalion The Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry.
