Ansonia Skating Rink On Sept 20, 1906, the Ansonia Opera House opened as a skating rink under the management of Walter Fitzsimmons and Frank McNamara. The crowd was larger than any expectations. Within an hour every pair of skates was rented. There was also a large number of spectators. While Ziegler's orchestra was present, and furnished excellent music.

Peck's Store, the first store in what would become Ansonia At the time of this advertisement dating in the 1870s, it was owned and operated by Robert Peck, although it originated earlier by Eleazer Peck. Eleazer Peck who was more than probably a relative of Robert, had built the store in or about 1840. It was a dry goods store, located on the corner of Main and Bridge streets.
