In February 1970, John Gilspin, an amateur photographer, was testing his new camera lens when he unwittingly caught Keith Sapsford's 200 foot plunge to death. Keith was a 14 year old Australian boy hoping to travel and see the world. He had hidden in the wheel housing of a Japan Air Lines Sydney-Tokyo jet. When the landing gear raised, he was pushed out into midair.

Italy’s most ghoulish site, this crypt houses thousands of corpses, fully dressed and hung from hooks. The practice began in 1599 when local priests mummified a holy monk and allowed visitors. Soon regular residents of Palermo wanted to be remembered in this fashion. Bodies are arranged by gender and profession; their facial expressions often eerily visible.
